Painters Albion Park
Albion Park has changed more than almost anywhere in the Illawarra. When we started out it was mostly older homes on big blocks around the village and Tongarra Road. Now there are whole new streets through Tullimbar and Calderwood, plus the trade and industrial strip at Albion Park Rail. We paint all of it, from a first repaint on a near-new estate home to an older weatherboard that’s been waiting years for a proper job.
Colourland Painting is a local, second-generation business with over 35 years of combined experience. For a free, no-pressure quote in Albion Park, call 0421 755 294.
Painting newer estate homes in Tullimbar and Calderwood
A lot of the homes we see in the new estates are only five to ten years old, but the builder’s paint is already showing it. Builders often use a basic spec: one coat on the ceilings, a flat finish on walls that marks the moment you touch it, and exterior trims that fade fast in the western sun. Most owners don’t need a full repaint yet. They need the high-traffic rooms redone in a proper washable finish, plus the exterior trims and front door before they get worse. Inside, we always recommend a high-quality wash-and-wear finish. You can wipe it down and marks come straight off.
Older homes around the village and Albion Park Rail
Closer to the old village and down towards the rail line, there are fibro and weatherboard homes and 1970s and 80s brick veneers. Those jobs are all about the prep. That means scraping back failing paint, filling and sanding, treating any rust on gutters and fascias, and priming bare timber before the topcoats go on. From our experience, if you skip that, you’ll be repainting again in two or three years. If you’re unsure how far gone your exterior is, we’ve written about exterior repaints in Shellharbour and Albion Park and what actually lasts down here.
Weather out here is different from the coast
Albion Park sits back from the ocean, under the escarpment near Macquarie Pass. You get less salt spray than the beachfront suburbs, but more heat in summer, harder afternoon sun and cold, damp winter mornings. In our experience that cracks and fades west-facing walls and trims faster than people expect. It’s also why we don’t paint exteriors on cold, dewy mornings and wait for the surface to dry properly first.
Commercial and industrial painting at Albion Park Rail
We also look after businesses around Albion Park Rail and the airport precinct, including workshops, trade units, showrooms and small warehouses. Those jobs are planned around trading hours and site rules. See our commercial painters and industrial painting pages for how we run them.
