Benchtop Resurfacing: A Marble Look for a Fraction of the Cost

Replacing kitchen benchtops is one of the pricier parts of any kitchen update — but in a lot of cases, you don’t actually need to replace them. After doing plenty of these around Wollongong, here’s what we can do and why people love it.

Painting timber benchtops. If your benches are wood, we can paint them using an epoxy — and it genuinely looks great. We can even mix colours to give it a marble look, so a dated timber top can come out looking like a completely different, high-end surface.

Built to actually be used. The reason epoxy works here is that it’s tough. It’s both heatproof and waterproof, so it stands up to real kitchen use rather than looking good for a month and then marking. That durability is the whole point — there’s no sense resurfacing a benchtop with something that won’t last.

A fraction of the cost. This is what surprises people most. Instead of tearing out and replacing benchtops, you’re getting a fresh, premium-looking surface for a small fraction of the price. Most of our clients are absolutely thrilled with the result — and it usually pairs perfectly with a cabinet respray for a full kitchen transformation without the full kitchen price tag.

When replacement still makes sense. We’ll always give you an honest answer. If a benchtop is badly damaged or falling apart, replacement can be the better call. But in many cases, resurfacing is the smarter, cheaper option — especially if you’re on a budget, selling, or updating a rental.

If you’re weighing up a new kitchen, it’s worth getting a painter to look first. Often the transformation you’re after costs a lot less than you think.
